The Millennium Fellowship, created by the United Nations Academic Impact and MCN, is a semester-long leadership initiative held on participating campuses to support students in expanding their social impact efforts. Aimed at undergraduates passionate about advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, the program helps fellows enhance their leadership abilities, develop high-impact projects, and collaborate with a global community of student leaders.
As a Millennium fellow, you would participate in the following exciting activities, amongst many others:
- Develop or strengthen a social impact project that aligns with one or more SDGs.
- Attend leadership training sessions focused on communication, systems thinking, collaboration, and project design.
- Work as part of a cohort of other Fellows on your campus, meeting regularly to learn, plan, and support each other’s projects.
The Millennium fellowship provides comprehensive leadership training, helping students strengthen their communication, collaboration, and project-management skills while developing impactful initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Participants gain access to mentorship, expert-led workshops, and a supportive campus cohort, along with the opportunity to collaborate with a global network of young changemakers. Eligibility
Requirements to be eligible for the Millennium Fellowship:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be an enrolled undergraduate student
- Have an interest in social impact work
- Each campus cohort must have at least 8 Millennium fellows (Competitive campuses have 15-20+).
How to apply
The application for this fellowship is done in two rounds:
Round one: Applicants are to apply online via the form provided on the website (linked below). This round is all about getting to know you and hearing about your motivation for joining the program. The application for this round is reviewed on a rolling basis. The deadline to submit your round 1 application is November 30th.
Round two: Upon successful completion and passing of Round 1, applicants receive an invitation via email to complete their Round 2. In this round applicants will need to submit their social impact project details (It could be a project idea or an existing project you are working on) and one recommendation (academic/professional).
