The Afro Tech Girls STEM scholarship is a prorgam initiative awarded by Afro-Tech Girls to support 50 female Nigerian undergraduate students currently pursuing STEM degrees. The Afro Tech Girls is driven by a powerful mission to inspire and equip girls and young women with essesntial STEM skills and education, ultimately working toward the vision of significantly increasing their participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields. To actively fulfill this vision, the Afro-Tech Girls community launched this scholarship prorgam that awards selected students with a one time scholarship of ₦100,000 toward their university education, helping them to complete their studies and successfully transition into a STEM workforce.
About Afro Tech Girls
Afro-Tech Girls is a Nigerian non-profit organization founded in 2014 by three young women to inspire and equip girls and young women with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) skills and education. The group’s mission is to increase female participation in STEM through training workshops, mentorship, scholarships, and community programs. They organize events for secondary and university students that combine technical and soft-skills development, helping girls build confidence and career readiness. By fostering early interest, offering financial and professional support, and creating a supportive community, Afro-Tech Girls is empowering the next generation of African women in technology and science.
Scholarship benefits
This Afro Tech Girls project-100-for-50 scholarship aims to support 50 young women in STEM with a ₦100,000 each.
Eligibility
To qualify for the Afro Tech Girls STEM scholarships applicants must be:
- Female
- Residing in Nigeria
- Currently enrolled in a public tertiary institution (Federal, State, or Polytechnic) situated in Nigeria
- Studying towards a STEM related degree
- On a grade of 2:2 and above or its equivalent
