The Ekiti state scholarship and bursary awards is offered annually by the Ekiti state government in Nigeria. The Ekiti state government, through its scholarship board, is committed to supporting education and empowering students across the state. The awards are aimed to support indigenes of Ekiti state who are currently studying in tertiary institutions. The scholarship and bursary provide financial assistance to help students cover academic expenses and continue their education with lesser financial burden.
Scholarship benefits
- The ₦60,000 award is for the applicants under the following category:
- Physically challenged
- Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE)/Ordinary National Diploma (OND)
- Undergraduate
- Higher National Diploma (HND)
2. Law school bursary award: ₦150,000
3.Master’s degree award: ₦250,000
4. PhD award: ₦750,000
5. Bursary to students in Tertiary Institutions jointly awarded by the State and Local Governments: ₦10,000
Eligibility
To qualify for the Ekiti state scholarship awards students must meet the following requirements:
Undergraduate applicants criteria:
- Applicants must be in their 2nd year and above in their courses of study
- Must possess WASSCE/NECO with a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, at one sitting.
- Must have:
- CGPA of 4.0 and above for universities or Second Class (Upper Division)
- CGPA of 3.50 and above for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education
Master’s Degree and PhD applicants:
- Master’s: must have at least a Second Class (Upper Division) at undergraduate level.
- Ph.D: Must have at least a Distinction in Master’s degree. Those with less than Distinction are not eligible.
- A letter of recommendation from the Head of Department (HOD) is required.
- Physically Challenged Students in tertiary institutions (University, Polytechnic, College of Education, School of Nursing/Midwifery, College of Health Tech, and Postgraduates) are qualified for the Handicapped Scholarship Award.
- Students on Part-Time and Sandwich courses are NOT qualified for the scholarship awards.
Requirements for the bursary awards:
- All students, including physically challenged postgraduate students are eligible.
Required documents
- The current school fees payment receipts
- Institution’s identification cards
- Letter of identification from Head of Department
- Certified transcript by the Registrar of the Institution.
- Certified copies of credentials
- Certificate of Local Government origin.
- 3 Years Tax Payment Certificate and Development Levy receipts of applicant’s parent.
