The Melajoom Foundation offers annual scholarships of ₦250,000 to students currently enrolled in tertiary institutions such as universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to empower and support academically outstanding students to pursue their eduaction without financial burdens. Applicant must be an indigene of Owo Local Government Area or its environs. The Melajoom foundation belives that investing in the academic success of youth, opens doors of opportunity for students who have the ambition and potential to thrive.

About Melajoom Foundation

The Melajoom Foundation was born from a family-driven initiative to uplift lives and provide opportunities for underserved communities in Nigeria. It began over 30 years ago and was officially registered in June 2010 as a privately funded, non-governmental, and non-profit organization. The name MELAJOOM is a symbol of family unity, derived from the names of the Adetula family members. These efforts gradually evolved into a formally structured non-profit organization focused solely on educational support, empowering students and building a pathway to lasting impact through learning. The aim of the foundation is to is to expand access to quality education for underserved students, especially those from Owo and its surrounding communities.

Eligibility

In order to apply for this scholarship, the applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicant must be an indigene of Owo Local Government Area or its environs.
  • A valid Certificate of Local Government of Origin is required.
  • For tertiary institution applicants: Upload a valid JAMB admission letter.
  • Freshers are eligible without CGPA requirements.
  • Continuing students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0.
  • Upload your latest academic result showing a CGPA of 3.0 or above (if applicable).

How to apply

Applicants are to apply online through the application portal in the foundation’s website and submit the following documents:

  1. Certificate of Local Government Area origin
  2. JAMB Admission letter
  3. Academic results showing a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (First year students are exempted)
  4. Reference letter from local government office
