The Richard Antwi Scholarship champions Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals in music business. Supported by all three UK major record labels, music publishers, and several of the top independent music companies and music law firms, the scholarship is awarded in conjunction with the Music Business Management MA at the University of Westminster.
Richard Antwi
Richard was a much-loved and widely respected music manager, lawyer and entrepreneur. Always ahead of the curve with sharp instincts, great ears and a handsome smile. As Carl Fysh succinctly put it – Richard was quietly at the centre of everything. The breadth of Richard’s support for others became abundantly clear when he passed so suddenly in 2016. The affection and respect in which he was held by so many people across the music industry and beyond, manifested in a desire to channel this good will and emotion in a way that captured his legacy and found a way to continue it.
Scholarship benefits
The scholarship includes:
- A full tuition fee waiver.
- A stipend of £22,000 paid in monthly instalments.
- Mentorship to guide scholar’s professional focus and aspirations.
Eligibility
Interested applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
- Be a home student for fee purposes and have an offer for the full time or part time MA Music Business Management course at the University of Westminster.
- EU students with home fee status are eligible to apply.
- Show development potential in your supporting statement.
- Demonstrable passion and experience or interest in music, music and technology or music management; financial need.
- Work experience in the field or academic excellence is preferable.
- Students who already have a Master’s degree are not eligible to apply.
- All applicants must be from a Black and Minority Ethnic background.
