The Robotics Artificial Intelligence Nigeria – RAIN Scholarship offers a free tuition opportunity for young Nigerians to learn robotics design, drone technology, IoT, and embedded systems. Established in 2019 by CEO Dr. Olusola Ayoola to address the critical gap in skilled workforce development in Nigeria and West Africa in emerging technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), It’s mission is to foster innovation, build capacity, and enable technological transformation in AI, robotics, and related fields.
About RAIN
Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria (RAIN) is a research and training facility dedicated to robotics and artificial intelligence technologies. It was established in 2019 by CEO Dr. Olusola Ayoola to address the critical gap in skilled workforce development in Nigeria and West Africa in emerging technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). Dr. Ayoola is a visionary leader committed to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to solve critical challenges in sectors like healthcare, national security, education, and sustainability. RAIN’s mission is to foster innovation, build capacity, and enable technological transformation in AI, robotics, and related fields.
Scholarship benefits
Recipients of the RAIN scholarship will get:
- Tuition coverage (from ₦7,700,000)
- Starter Kit
- Comprehensive training (12 or 24 months)
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for this scholarship:
- Open to any individual legally permitted to study in Nigeria
- Not limited to Nigerian citizens, welcome to qualified candidates from across West Africa
- Recent graduates
- Preferably but not limited to First-class degree holders with excellent references from university lecturers
- Backgrounds in Engineering, Computer Science, Computing, Mathematics, or Physical Sciences
- Demonstrable knowledge of coding (especially Python, C++, or C)
- Passion for robotics, automation, and/or artificial intelligence
- Must provide own laptop (16GB RAM, Core i7 recommended) and arrange accommodation in Ibadan
How to apply
To apply for the RAIN scholarship, students must create a 2-minute video addressing the following topics:
- Your background and personality
- Why you’re suitable for this scholarship
- Your knowledge of RAIN and our mission
- Your coding experience and expertise
- How you plan to contribute to Nigeria’s technological growth
- Relevant experience (including final year projects)
- Which program track you’re applying for (RDA, AIML, or Combined)
Then they must go on to post their video on YouTube and share the link via the form: https://forms.gle/gJYAGgL4Fiij3ape9 (Make sure to share across all your social platforms for maximum engagement and endorsements from loved ones).
Finally, you must tag RAIN across all their social media platforms.
Required documents
Shortlisted applicants with the highest post engagement and most compelling video message will be invited for an interview where they must present:
- Comprehensive resume/CV
- Two Letters of recommendation addressed to the Director, RAIN
- Academic transcripts
- Proof of coding knowledge/projects
- Other supporting documents as requested
