Shopify Dev Degree program combines a computer science degree with hands-on work experience for passionate and ambitious students interested in building real world software solutions while gaining industry experience alongside their studies. Selected students will work part-time remotely as developers on production Shopify teams, applying classroom knowledge to real projects that impact millions of merchants worldwide. Dev Degree is a remote program where participants work part-time as developers on production Shopify teams alongside their studies, applying classroom knowledge to real projects that impact millions of merchants worldwide. Through hands-on training, mentorship from experienced engineers, and continuous professional development, students build strong technical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills while contributing meaningful code to Shopify’s platform. In addition to that, depending on what partner university you attend, you’ll either join an engineering team and experience building products at Shopify while continuing to study computer science after your first 4 months on the developer skills training path (York University), or after your first 8 months (Carleton University).
Additional benefits of the program:
- Shopify will pay participants’ tuition, as well as provide them with a competitive salary and vacation. That’s over $160,000 (CDN) in total financial support.
- Students are granted academic credits for their work at Shopify and graduate with an accredited degree in computer science in only three to four years, with 3800+ hours of work experience.

- Note that any previous experience in computer science or software engineering is not a requirement to apply.
