The Study In Canada Scholarship Program (SICP) is funded by the Government of Canada to support international students from selected countries to study or conduct research at Canadian post-secondary institutions for a short period. It helps students gain international academic experience by providing financial assistance for expenses like travel, living costs, and study-related fees.
SCIP is part of Canada’s international scholarship initiative administered through Global Affairs Canada. The programme enables eligible students from partner countries to access short-term exchange opportunities at Canadian colleges and universities, aiming to strengthen academic linkages and support global education partnerships.
Scholarship benefits
Successful candidates under the SICP program may receive:
- $10,200 CAD for a four-month study or research period
- $14,000 CAD for a five- to six-month study or research period
- Coverage for visa or study/work permit fees
- Support for airfare to and from Canada
- Living expenses, including accommodation and food6. Health insurance and transportation support
Eligibility
In order to qualify for the scholarship program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be citizens of one of the eligible countries listed in the website
- Be enrolled full-time in a post-secondary institution in their home country at the time of application
- Arrange a study or research plan with a Canadian post-secondary institution willing to host them
- Meet any additional institutional requirements for the exchange or research visit
- Not hold or have a pending application for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency
How to apply
To apply for the SICP scholarship:
Step 1: Eligible students should first contact their home institution’s international office and a Canadian partner institution with which their school has an exchange agreement.
Step 2: The Canadian institution will then submit the application on behalf of the student through the official My EduCanada portal.
