Taiwo Bankole Prize annual Scholarship for Ajegunle Residents

The Taiwo Bankole Prize, established in memory of Taiwo Bankole Ogunyemi, stands as a prestigious accolade designed to provide much needed financial assistance to two deserving individual, specifically one male and one female from economically disadvantaged backgrounds residing in Ajegunle, Lagos. In the second quarter of every year, Paradigm Initiative will call for applications where the people who met the eligibility criteria

Taiwo Bankole Ogunyemi’s biography

Born May 1, 1985, a man by the name Taiwo Bankole Ogunyemi lived life in full. In his own words, “Community organization is my passion while being a change agent is my calling. But, creating innovative businesses remains my expertise.“ Taiwo Bankole’s countless achievements as a community organizer and change agent include:

  1. Leading projects such as the first Summer Technology Camp in Delta State.
  2. Leading several ICT workshops in Lagos and Delta states.
  3. Volunteered for Paradigm Initiative Nigeria where he worked on the Maga No Need Pay anti-cybercrime project, Digital Lifestyle of Connected Nigerians survey and helped pioneer the Techie.
  4. Volunteered at the After school Graduate Development Centre (AGDC), after completing his training there. He was part of the team that helped place other graduates on Internships, helped with technical support, contributed to monitoring and evaluation projects, and was part of the team responsible for the program’s 2009 MTN scholarships.
  5. Helped pioneer the Techie Entrepreneurial Nigerian Talented (TENT) project through the TENT Workshop in Warri.

Taiwo served without hesitation, and provided support for other organizations such as The Future Project. His friends, colleagues and others had a lot to say about Taiwo and the amazing life he lived. From their sayings:

  • “We can attest to the achievements of Bankole Taiwo. He was young and ready to do anything to fix Nigeria, and he died doing something for Nigeria. He had a purpose in life and got things done”. –
  • “Taiwo was a young man with a major vision. He knew there was a way to touch the lives of young people. Taiwo touched many lives in his short time on Earth. He was a born leader, he bubbled [with] positivity, he had optimism, he knew he was destined for great things, he was a determined & dedicated Christian, and He loved his family.”

So, in honour of all Taiwon Bankole’s dedication and work, as a way of giving back and continuing his legacy at least two young people in Ajejunle will be awarded a Scholarship in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) or Law courses.

Taiwo Bankole Prize scholarship award

The scholarship will cover:

  • Tuition.
  • Accommodation.
  • Living expenses.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be between 17 and 25 years of age.
  • Applicants must be from a low income family.
  • Applications must have secured admission into a public university in Nigeria to study a course in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) or Law.
  • Applicants must be a resident of Ajegunle.

Application process

In the second quarter of every year, Paradigm Initiative will call for applications for the people who met the eligibility criteria. Candidates must be ready to submit the following documents:

  1. SSCE certificate
  2. Jamb result
  3. Admission Letter
  4. Identification Card (NIN, International Passport, Voters card, Drivers License).
  5. Two letters of recommendation (from Teacher or Principal of your school and Ajegunle Custodian) describing your personality.
