As a non-profit organization, the Wole Ogunyemi Foundation is working to increase school enrolment and completion rates in Nigeria through scholarships, grants, and outreaches targeted at underserved communities and students from poor backgrounds. So, they are offering this undergraduate scholarship program to financially support economically disadvantaged students in Nigerian universities.

About The Wole Ogunyemi Foundation

The Wole Ogunyemi Foundation belief that education is the most important tool and investment to drive the transformation and development of the Nigerian communities, to empower people with the skills and knowledge needed to escape the trap of poverty, and to inspire young people with the ideas for leadership that the future requires. They work in underserved communities to improve school enrollment and completion rates through outreaches to pupils in primary schools, scholarship opportunities to students in secondary schools, financial aid to undergraduate and post-graduate students, and financial grants to schools and other organizations in the educational sector.

Scholarship award

Selected awardees receive a cash prize of ₦100,000 to cover a range of educational expenses that include:

  • Tuition fees.
  • Room and board
  • Books and supplies
  • Transportation.

That way, they increase access to quality education for all the students and hope to reduce poverty and inequality in Nigeria, and are committed to empowering the next generation of leaders.

Eligibility

Requirements to apply for the scholarship:

  • Demonstrate genuine financial need.
  • Full time undergraduate in the second year of study (200 level) or above.
  • Have a minimum CGPA (cumulative grade point average) of 3.5 or its equivalent.
  • Not a beneficiary of any other scholarship or study grant.
Application process

To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must submit a duly completed application form and provide the following supporting documents for verification purposes:

  1. Copy of transcript from the last academic session.
  2. Copy of WAEC or NECO result.
  3. A signed letter of recommendation.
