European Commission Blue Book Traineeship Programme

European Commission Blue Book Traineeship Programme is offered twice a year (March and October sessions) and managed by the Directorate General for Human Resources and Security. The programme is a five month paid internship placing around 1,000 graduates per session across EU departments, agencies, and the External Action Service in Brussels, Luxembourg, and beyond. The traineeship programme comes in two strands: an Administrative Traineeship and a Translation Traineeship with the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT).

The programme comes with the following benefits:

• Monthly allowance of approximately €1,538 (Amounts can shift between intakes)
• Reimbursement of travel and visa expenses
• Medical/healthcare cost coverage

Eligibility

Eligibility of the traineeship programme:

1. Open to all nationalities, regardless of citizenship
2. Completed at least a three-year higher education degree (bachelor’s level, EQF 6) by the application deadline, in any discipline
3. Less than six weeks of prior work experience at an EU institution, agency, or body
4. Administrative strand:
   1. strong command of two EU official languages (English, French, or German at C1/C2, a second at B2 minimum); non-EU nationals need only one at C1/C2
5. Translation strand:
   1. strong proficiency in multiple EU languages, including deep proficiency in a language other than your mother tongue
