Since Inception in 2016, She Code Africa empowered over 62,000 African girls and women with tech skills, resources & employment opportunities in the industry and with over 30,000 members. She Code Africa a non profit organization and one of the largest for African with members from across 20+ African countries. The She Code Africa laptop scholarship awards girls in pursuit of careers in technology with their own personal HP laptop that will open for them doors to coding bootcamps, online courses, remote jobs, opportunities to collaborate with global tech communities etc, ensuring they have the means to thrive in the digital economy.

About She Code Africa

She Code Africa is a non profit organisation founded in 2016, dedicated to empowering girls and women in Africa to enter and thrive in technology careers. Through programs such as coding bootcamps, scholarships, laptop grants, and partnerships with global tech companies, She Code Africa actively works to close the gender gap in tech and create a more inclusive digital future. Their mission goes beyond just teaching skills – they aim to build a strong, supportive ecosystem where African women can grow, lead, and innovate in the tech space.

Scholarship benefits

Selected beneficiaries will receive brand-new laptops fully funded by HP. Only successful applicants will be contacted via email after the review process.

Eligibility

To be eligibile for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • African women and girls interested in or currently pursuing a career in technology
  • Individuals who do not have access to a personal laptop
  • Applicants who can demonstrate a genuine interest in tech and a clear plan for how access to a laptop will support their goals
  • Applicants are encouraged to complete the online form honestly and thoroughly, providing clear details about their aspirations and current challenges.

All applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria:

  1. Demonstrated Interest in Technology: Evidence of ongoing learning, participation in tech programs, or personal projects.
  2. Clarity of Goals: A clear plan outlining how the laptop will contribute to your growth in the tech field.
  3. Impact Potential: The potential for the applicant to contribute to their community or inspire other women and girls in tech.
