The Google student researcher program offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students the opportunity to work on exploratory research projects alongside teams at Google Research, Google DeepMind, Google Cloud, and other Google research teams. Projects span areas such as:
- Artificial intelligence
- Machine learning
- Computer vision
- Natural language processing
- Data science
- Software engineering
- Quantum information science
Unlike a traditional internship, the program allows flexibility in project duration, weekly commitment, and work arrangements, depending on the specific team and project. Applicants are generally expected to have relevant technical or research experience AND selected students must continue their academic studies after the placement. Current Google listings also require applicants to be located in the specified country for the duration of the engagement.

Eligibility
Requirements to be eligible:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related field
- Experience in at least one relevant computer science or research area (e.g. ML, NLP, computer vision, quantum computing, data science)
- Programming ability in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C/C++ is an advantage
- Prior research experience or publications strengthen an application
