Tokyo city university merit scholarships

Tokyo City University often called TCU for short, is a private university focused on engineering, environmental and information sciences, located in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan. The university has established a tuition reduction and exemption for undergraduate and graduate students as well as a list of many scholarships partnered with foundations and the Japanese government to support international students.

Eligibility

The scholarships listed below are mostly for both Japanese and international students with excellent academic. The scholarships are open to undergraduate students, graduate students, or both.

Scholarship award

The award for all the listed scholarships are either tuition fee reduction (Partially or fully) or awarded on a monthly basis.

List of scholarships

  1. Private tuition fee reduction for foreign students

Criteria for 75% fees reduction:

  • Applicants who graduate for the Overseas Partner Institution.
  • A final GPA is more than3.0 the Overseas Partner Institution.
  • Students enrolled in a graduate school of TCU.

Criteria for 50% fees reduction:

  • Applicants who graduate for the Overseas Partner Institution.
  • A final GPA is more than 2.5 but less than 3.0 not yet matureat the Overseas Partner Institution.
  • Students enrolled in a graduate school of TCU.

Criteria for 30% fees reduction:

  • Students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate school.

2. Japanese Government Scholarship

  • If you hope to be a student of a Japanese university with public and private foundations scholarship(KOKUHI RYUGAKUSEI), first you are required to pass a preliminary evaluation by the foreign governments concerned.
  • The Japanese Embassy basically conducts a preliminary evaluation of candidates through a written examination, an interview and a review of submitted documents; A written examination will be given in Japanese and English. Every applicant must take the examination in Japanese, while the examination in English is optional. For details about this scholarship, please contact the Japanese Embassy/Consulate General.

3. Sano Kokusai-Kouryu(International Exchange) Scholarship

  • Scholarship is open to Asian students
  • Half tuition fee reduction is provided

4. TCU Kirihana Scholarship

  • Applicants can be from any country
  • Half tuition fee reduction is awarded

5. Honors Scholarship for Privately
Financed International Students

  • Applicants from all around the world are welcome to apply
  • Award is ¥48,000 per month

6. DoCoMo Scholarship (Mobile Communication Fund)

  • Scholarship is open to only Asian students
  • ¥120,000 per month as award

7. SGH Foundation

  • Applicants must be from East Asia
  • Award: ¥100,000 per month

8. Nakamura Sekizen Foundation

  • Scholarship is open to international students
  • Scholars will receive ¥30,000 per month

9. The Korean Scholarship Foundation

  • Scholarship for Korean nationals to study at TCU

10. Kobayashi Ikueikai

  • International students are welcome to apply
  • Each scholarship recipient get ¥25,000 per month

11. Shinano Ikueika

  • Applicants can be from any country
  • The award is ¥200,000 per month

12. Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation Inc.

  • Open to citizens of any country
  • ¥140,000 per month as the award

13. Yamada Shogakukai

  • Scholarship for both local and international students
  • Scholarship award: ¥120,000 per month

15. Sato International Scholarship Foundation

  • Applicants must be from Asia
  • Parent must not be currently working in Japan

16. Seiho Scholarship Foundation

  • Scholarship for Korean students

17. Moritani Ikueikai

  • Both local and International students are eligibile
  • ¥100,000 per month

18. Kyoritsu International Foundation

  • Only open to Asians
  • Award ranges from ¥60,000 per month ~ ¥100,000 per month
