The Murtala Muhammed Foundation 2025 scholarship is a collaboration with the Africa Science Academy to fully fund young African women passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), in order to empower them.
This scholarship will provide financial support, mentorship, and leadership opportunities to deserving female students who have demonstrated academic excellence and a strong interest in STEM disciplines.
Murtala Muhammad Foundation (MMF)
The Murtala Muhammed Foundation (MMF) is a non-profit organization based in Nigeria, established in memory of the former Nigerian Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Muhammed. The foundation focuses on initiatives that promote sustainable development, social change, and humanitarian assistance across Africa.
The foundation works to inspire and train African leaders who can address challenges in governance and drive positive change, while promoting access to quality education for African children and youth. It develops programs that empower African youth, focusing on entrepreneurship, skills development, and employment opportunities.
Scholarship benefit
This scholarship includes a range of benefits to ensure full support to the recipients
- Full University Scholarship: Covers tuition, accommodation, and living expenses for a four-year degree program.
- Dedicated Mentorship: Access to mentors for academic and career guidance.
- Annual Paid Internship: Hands-on professional experience each year.
- Leadership Summer School: Participation in leadership and skill-building workshops annually.
Eligiblity
You are only eligible if you meet the following conditions:
- African female
- Aged between 16-19 years.
- Have completed Senior High School, IGCSES, O-Level, or an equivalent qualification by July 2024.
- Have an A or B grade in Physics and Mathematics in WAEC or an equivalent examination.
- Demonstrate a passion and interest in STEM fields.
Selection criteria
The applications will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Academic excellence, particularly in Physics and Mathematics.
- Demonstrated passion and commitment to STEM fields.
- Quality of submitted essays and supporting documents.
- Overall alignment with the program’s objectives.
