The Federal Government TVET Program (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) is a flagship program of the Federal Ministry of Education designed to equip young Nigerians with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship. The FME TVET initiative aims to:
- Close Nigeria’s skills gap
- Empower the youth for self-reliance
- Create a pipeline of skilled workers for industries
- Promote national development through vocational excellence
If you are selected for the Federal Government TVET Program, your role is to actively participate in the vocational training by attending classes regularly, engaging in both theoretical and hands on learning, and following the guidelines set by the training center and instructors for either 6 months or 1 year depending on which training track you go into.
Program benefits
Selected candidates will benefit from the following:
- Monthly stipends of ₦22,500
- Free Tuition paid directly by the Federal Government through NELFund

Eligibility
The federal government TVET prorgam is seperated into two tracks and their individual eligibility requirements are as follows:
Vocational Education and Innovation (VEI) Programme
- This program is for individuals with some education or informal training experience, looking to deepen and formalize their skills.
Required documents
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – proof of skills acquired informally or through apprenticeship
- First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)
- Any form of non-formal education certificate (e.g., training from NGOs, religious institutions, nomadic education or community programs)
Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme
- This track is designed for individuals ready to learn a practical skill and enter the workforce quickly.
Required documents
- Valid National Identification Number (NIN)
- Valid Bank Verification Number (BVN)
- No prior educational qualification required.
