France South Africa Scholarship Program

The France South Africa Scholarship Program scholarship is jointly run by Campus France and South African partners including the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), the National Research Foundation (NRF), and Universities South Africa. The scholarship funds Master’s and PhD studies at universities in France, with priority given to STEM and related humanities/social sciences fields. Shortlisted candidates will receive online French language courses through the Alliances Franรงaises before departing for France in September 2027.

Scholarship benefits

Scholarship comes with the following:

  • Annual living stipend of up to โ‚ฌ22,200 (approx. โ‚ฌ850โ€“1,400/month depending on level)
  • Individualized accommodation aid (approx. โ‚ฌ150/month)
  • Return flight to France
  • Social security coverage, priority student housing, and visa fee exemption

Note: This scholarship does not cover tuition fees. Applicants should look for low or no tuition programs in France.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be:

  1. Own citizenship of South Africa, Lesotho, or Malawi
  2. Enrolling in a program taught entirely in English or French
  3. Have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution (final-year students may also apply)

Apply through the official Campus France South Africa platform, completing the online application and uploading required academic documents.
