HelpMum CareCode Hackathon

The HelpMum CareCode Hackathon is a Nigerian health-tech innovation competition organized by HelpMum Africa to develop practical solutions that improve maternal and infant healthcare. It brings together developers, AI specialists, researchers, entrepreneurs, and students to tackle challenges such as maternal care delivery, newborn health, nutrition, and access to quality healthcare services.

The programme offers significant incentives, with recent editions featuring a prize pool of up to ₦10 million, along with mentorship and post-hackathon support to help winners implement and scale their ideas. Overall, it serves as a platform for young innovators to use technology to address real healthcare problems and potentially launch impactful health-tech ventures in Nigeria.

Prizes

First place – 5 million naira
Second place – 3 million naira
Third place – 2 million naira

Note: Participants must grant the organizers and sponsors a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use and promote their submissions in media and promotional materials. Entrants must ensure their submissions do not include content protected by third-party rights or confidentiality obligations and permit the organizers to use their content for the Hackathon’s intended purposes.

Eligibility

The Hackathon is only open to:

  • Nigerian citizens
  • Individuals proficient in technology, software development, and AI
  • There is a special consideration for students and new graduates.
  • Participants must be at least 18 years old
  • Participant must have a registered businesss and a path to sustainability for their solution beyond the hackathon.
  • Participants should register individually or as teams before the event begins

Submissions will be judged on innovation, social impact, technical execution, and cost-efficiency, including the sustainability of the proposed solutions.

How to apply

Step 1: Submit your idea explaining your innovative solution

Step 2: Selected participants will develop their solutions with mentor support

Step 3: Present your final solution at our Lagos office for a chance to become a finalist – Final pitch event will be at our SmartVerge Event in Lagos, Nigeria
