McNeese State University scholarship

The McNeese State University scholarship comes with a research assistantship in which one graduate student will be documenting and monitoring the community of pond breeding amphibians throughout a mixed-use park located in Southwest Louisiana. The goal is to study the response of amphibian communities to intensive habitat management.

Scholarship benefits

The McNeese State University scholarship comes with a research assistantship which includes a half tuition waiver and salary of $20,000/yr for 2.5 years

Eligibility

Interested students must meet the following requirements to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Have a B.S. in wildlife science, biology, natural resource conservation, or closely related discipline.
  • Be self motivated, have a strong work ethic, and the ability to tolerate field work in a challenging environment (high heat and humidity, biting insects, etc…).  
  • Possess the ability to work with a diverse group of natural resource professionals, and interests in herpetology, conservation biology, and quantitative techniques are essential.
  • Be sensitive to issues involving species of conservation concern and land management. 
  • Experience identifying frogs and toads by sight and vocalizations is preferred but not required.
