The NNPC Renaissance JV Scholarship is an annual undergraduate scholarship program designed to support academically outstanding Nigerian students. The scholarship aims to promote academic excellence and ease the financial burden of university education by providing financial assistance throughout the duration of the student’s degree program.
The scholarship is funded by the Renaissance African Energy Company Limited, in partnership with the NNPC/Renaissance/TotalEnergies/AENR Joint Venture, and is one of the most recognized oil and gas scholarships in Nigeria.
The scholarship is offered under two categories:
- National Merit Award (open to all Nigerians)
- Areas of Operation Merit Award (for indigenes of Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, and Rivers States)

The NNPC/Renaissance/TotalEnergies/AENR Joint Venture is a collaboration of major energy companies operating in Nigeria. Through initiatives like this scholarship, the joint venture aims to develop local talent, promote education, and contribute to sustainable national development in the oil and gas sector.
Scholarship benefits
The scholarship provides the following benefits:
- Annual educational grant (about ₦200,000 per year)
- Financial support throughout the undergraduate program (subject to academic performance)
Eligibility
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of Nigeria
- Be a full-time undergraduate student in an accredited Nigerian university
- Be in 200 level at the time of application
- Not be a beneficiary of any other oil and gas scholarship
