The University of Florida graduate scholarship is designed as a collaborative cohort experience whereby successful applicants will join 3-4 students working on integrated biological, ecological, and socioeconomic perspectives of changing fisheries. The project aims to develop socioecological models that predict how shifting fish populations and fisher behaviors influence management actions. Based within the Program of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, this position bridges the gap between scientific modeling and community-level fisheries governance.
Scholarship benefits
The benefits of this graduate scholarship includes:
- A living stipend of $27,500 to $31,000 per year
- Tuition fees coverage
- Health insurance
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
- Hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., ecology, environmental science, statistics, or applied mathematics),
- Possess strong quantitative skills,
- Have an interest in studying sea turtles.
- Have experience with programming (e.g., R or Python), telemetry analyses, movement ecology, spatial analyses, GIS, or advanced statistical modeling is highly desirable.
- Should have strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
