The University of Florence PEGASO scholarship offers fully funded PhD opportunities to Italian and international students seeking to pursue doctoral studies in Italy. For the 2026/2027 academic year, the university is offering positions through its 42nd Cycle PEGASO PhD Programmes, providing successful candidates with three years of advanced academic training and research experience. Funded by Regione Toscana through the PR ESF 2021-2027 Programme under the Giovanisรฌ Project, the PEGASO programme aims to support talented researchers while providing an environment that combines academic excellence with practical research opportunities.
The doctoral programmes are scheduled to begin on November 1, 2026.
Scholarship benefits
The scholarship comes with the following benefits:
- Annual stipend of โฌ16,243 paid on a monthly basis
- Access to research funding
- Additional financial support for approved international research activities
- One-time relocation contribution of up to โฌ5,000 for eligible international students

Eligibility criteria:
- Open to applicants of all nationalities who meet the academic admission requirements
- Must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) for PhD admission
