For the twelfth consecutive year, the Foot Locker Scholar Athletes program will award up to $20,000 scholarships to 20 high school, college-bound seniors across the nation for being exemplary leaders on their sports teams, in their classrooms, and in their communities. The scholarship, sponsored by the Foot Locker Foundation, is intended to help phenomenal student-athletes pursue their goals of attending and excelling at a two-year or four-year community college or four-year school.

Funding

The Foot Locker Scholar Athletes scholarship can be applied to tuition, fees, and required supplies as billed directly by the winner’s accredited, four-year university or two-year or four-year community college. Depending on the length of your program, the scholarship will be awarded in two or four equal annual payments of $5,000 throughout the winner’s college career for a total amount of up to $20,000. The winner of the Ken C. Hicks scholarship will receive an additional $5,000 to their total award. That winner’s college will receive their scholarship in four installments of $6,250.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating high-school seniors, pursuing an undergraduate degree at a two- or four-year community college or four-year school.
  • Be currently involved in high school sports, intramural sports, or community based sports.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident (you will be asked to prove citizenship and age if you win).
  • Not be an employee, officer or director of Foot Locker, Inc., or any of its subsidiaries, or a member of the immediate family of such an employee, officer or director.

Application process

Each person wishing to apply for this scholarship must complete all the required fields in the application and have at least one non-family recommendation completed on their behalf. All persons accessing the Website are referred to as “Entrants” and anyone completing and submitting a completed application form are hereafter referred to as “Applicants.” You will need to have at least one non-family member submit a recommendation on behalf of the Applicant through the Website system.

Applicants are required to write and submit one essay, not more than five hundred words in length, describing or explaining how they demonstrate excellence in school, on their sports teams, and in their community. Additionally applicants are required to answer one question, that they can answer either in video or essay format. The video may not exceed three minutes in length and the essay must not be more than three hundred words in length. The Essays must be uploaded to the Website before the end of the scholarship period to qualify for the scholarship. All Essays and videos entered in the Scholarship must be the original work by the Applicant. Forgery or use of copyrighted materials will result in automatic disqualification. All applications and related materials become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.
