The Mo Ibrahim Foundation

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation is an African organization established to promote leadership and governance across the continent. Founded by Dr. Mo Ibrahim, the foundation focuses on supporting initiatives that strengthen institutions, encourage accountability, and empower future African leaders through education and development programs.

Scholarship benefits

The scholarship comes with the following benefits:

  1. Full tuition fee coverage
  2. Maintenance stipend (from a total award of about £45,479)
  3. Financial support for living expenses

Eligibility

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be an overseas fee-paying student
  • Hold a minimum of a 2:1 bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Have an unconditional offer for a full-time master’s program at SOAS
  • Be starting studies in September 2026
  • Demonstrate interest in governance and development in Africa

Preference is given to applicants residing in Africa.
