The University of Georgia master’s scholarship is a fully funded graduate research assistantship on a project at the Whitehall Deer Research Facility on the main campus of UGA in Athens, GA. The project is a collaborative effort at the University of Georgia (UGA) involving scientists from the Deer Laboratory (Dr. Marcelo Jorge) in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study (Dr. Mark Ruder), and in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Dr. Emily Latch).
The position start date is negotiable, but must begin by August 13, 2026 and funding is available for 2 years with the potential of an additional 0.5 years if awarded a teaching assistantship.
Scholarship benefits
Selected scholars will recieve an annual stipend of $23,453 per year.
Eligibility
Interested applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the scholarship:
- Have completed a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology and management, Pre-Vet track, or related fields.
- Have a Bachelor’s degree GPA >3.0. Â
- An expressed interest in wildlife biology, white-tailed deer, genetics, and/or disease. Â
- Be comfortable working on a computer, developing their statistical analysis and R coding skills.Â
