The GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition (GAPC) is an annual event that seeks to identify and support the most innovative and promising agricultural entrepreneurs – agripreneurs. This competition is part of the Generation Africa’s movement which seeks to inspire the next generation of African agripreneurs, connecting them to the resources they need to move their businesses successfully from idea to scale. The competition is open to all African entrepreneurs who have innovative ideas for agricultural businesses.
Top contestants will also have the opportunity to apply for the exclusive 6-month GoGettaz Africa Leadership Program, designed to empower emerging leaders with the skills and network necessary to grow themselves and their businesses
Generation Africa
Generation Africa is a dynamic partnership initiative dedicated to strengthening the ecosystem for youth entrepreneurs in the agri-food sector across the African continent. They bring together a diverse group of organizations, stakeholders, and thought leaders who share a common goal: empowering African youth to revolutionize agri-food entrepreneurship.
Scholarship benefit
Winners of the GoGettaz Agripreneur competition will be offered:
- A grand prize of $50,000 – for one woman and one man.
- Mentorship and training from other experienced agripreneurs.
- Linkages to different stakeholders in the agrifood sector.
- Opportunity to be part of Generation Africa Fellowship program.
Eligibility
To qualify for this competition, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- African entrepreneurs with innovative ideas for agricultural businesses.
- Be between the age of 18 and 35 years.
- Be a legal entity (i.e. company, partnership, corporation, trust, a non-profit organization), a sole proprietorship which is registered in country that is a member state of the African Union, or an individual who will have completed the registration of such an entity prior to 10 June 2025.
- Be at the Startup or Growth stage (as defined in the GoGettaz Application Form 2025).
- Be a co-founder or founder of a scalable business that is designed to be financially sustainable, either as a for-profit business or as a market-based social venture generating revenue at least in part and aiming for non-donor-based sustainability.
- Previous Winners and Finalists of competitions run by GoGettaz and their Partners are ineligible to participate in this competition. For the purpose of this Competition, competitions run by GoGettaz business Partners include those run by AGRA.
- Previous Finalists of the GoGettaz and Pitch AgriHack competitions or their business partners are ineligible to reapply for the competition in any subsequent year.
How to apply
Step 1: To get started on your application, you are required to join the GoGettaz Community.
Step 2: Create your VC4A profile then proceed with the online application. You can save your progress to continue later.
The application includes questions such as:
- “Give an example of your entrepreneurial mindset.”
- “How does your business generate revenue?”
- “What is your plan for scaling up your business?”
- “Who are your main competitors?”
- “What are your biggest business challenges so far and how have you overcome them?”
Applicants that make it through the initial round will be asked to submit a two-minute pitch video, where you can really impress the judges and show them why you deserve to go into the 2025 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition finals.
