Sohcahtoa Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving those facing adversity in Africa through various programs and initiatives. This includes their annual undergraduate scholarship! The Scholarship program is targeted at undergraduates in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. These would enable pupils and students to enjoy basic and quality education because Sohcahtoa envision and work toward a future where poverty and hardship are alleviated, and where every person can experience the dignity and joy of a fulfilling life.

why the scholarship started

Sohcahtoa Foundation recognizes and understands the transformative power of education. Therefore, they strive hard to provide educational support to students to help them succeed in their studies. Amongst a couple of educational support initiatives organized by the Foundation, sohcahtoa are set to kick-start the Back-to-school drive and Undergraduate scholarship program. The back to school initiative aims at supporting pupils/students in public schools with essential books, writing materials, shoes, bags etc while the Scholarship program is targeted at undergraduates in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. These would enable pupils and students to enjoy basic and quality education because Sohcahtoa envision a future where poverty and hardship are alleviated, and where every person can experience the dignity and joy of a fulfilling life.

Sohcahtoa’s impact on the society

Sohcahtoa Foundation has touched millions of lives across several communities in Nigeria through our outreach programmes. Sohcahtoa’s journey began with their first program at Maranatha Church, Gbagada, where they collaborated with the church to host an empowerment program in September 2021. Over 100 participants were trained on vocational skills like Fashion designing, Hair styling, Photography, Shoe making and so on. In enhancing their effort to ensure quality delivery, some of the participants were further sponsored for intensive training and mentorship on Tailoring, Soap making and Hat making with some of the successful trainees setting up their businesses and currently doing pretty well.

Scholarship award

This scholarship reward is two hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N250,000) annually and renewable yearly until graduation upon maintaining good academic record.

Eligibility

The requirements for those who wish to apply are as follows:

  1. Be in 2nd year or above in a Nigerian Public Tertiary Institution (University, Polytechnic or Colleges of Education)
  2. Have at least 5 O’ level credit passes in one sitting (English and Mathematics inclusive)
  3. Have a CGPA of 3.5 in a 5 grade system or equivalent in other grade systems.
  4. Must not be a beneficiary of any other scholarship award, bursary or grant from any other organization.
  5. Be studying any of the following courses:
    • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)
    • Humanities
    • Administration
    • Law
    • Medicine

  • O’ level result
  • School ID card or admission letter
  • Last semester result
  • Passport photograph
