The annual HKAUW scholarship scheme

HKAUW gives scholarships to women university students at local tertiary institutions who excelled in their academic performance and take part in community services through its annual scholarship scheme. In addition, seminars, workshops and plans for community service projects are being offered to members to help our educated women stretch their minds with new knowledge and innovative ideas and strengthen their hearts and foster their concern for others.

Hong Kong Association of University Women (HKAUW) is inviting applications for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships 2023. Details of HKAUW Scholarships are attached in the website.You can only submit no more than two nominations for Undergraduate Scholarships and no more than five nominations for Postgraduate Scholarships from your institution. All applicants must have recommendations from their current supervisors and endorsed by the head of department or faculty/school in which the candidates are currently registered.

Eligibility

For Undergraduate applicants:

  • Must be currently registered as a full-time female student(except first and final year students) at a local degree-granting tertiary institution (designation determined by HKAUW).
  • Must be an undergraduate member of HKAUW.
  • Must be nominated by the head of department or faculty/school in which she is currently registered.
  • Has outstanding academic achievements.
  • Demonstrates current participation and active involvement in community service.
  • Has two recommendation letters, one from her current academic supervisor and one from the community/voluntary service organization.
  • She is involved inis required to serve the community for at least half a year after she receives the scholarship which may include participating in community services project organized by HKAUW

For Postgraduate applicants:

  • Must be a full member of HKAUW.
  • Must be currently registered as a full-time female student (including both research and taught-based postgraduate programmes) in a local postgraduate degree-granting tertiary institution (designation determined by HKAUW).
  • Has outstanding academic achievements, personal aspirations and qualities.
  • Demonstrates leadership and active involvement in community service, has contributions in her chosen disciplines, including a global outlook and the promotion of women’s statushas recommendations from her supervisor, endorsed by the head of department or faculty/school in which she is currently registered.
  • Has recommendations from the community/voluntary service organization she is involved inis required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of quality community service within six months of receiving the scholarship. Such service projects must be mutually agreed on by the scholarship recipients and HKAUW in advance.
